Everything you need to know about Detox Diets

I would not recommend a detox diet.  

They can be dangerous if they have you taking in more water than needed or if they have you excessively restricting foods. 

The idea of a detox diet comes from the assumption that the liver and kidneys need help clearing out toxins which is absolutely not true.

Usually, detox diets will lead to short-term weight loss from extreme caloric restriction. 

However, they rarely result in sustainable weight loss and often lead to the regain of weight down the road. 

Over time these diets just aren’t sustainable.
